Aaron

Epic explorer

Roughly 13,000 feet above sea level is where you’ll likely find New Belgium co-worker Aaron on his days off—if you can pinpoint him in the vast acreage that comprises the area of Cameron Pass, a couple hours drive west of Fort Collins. Aaron is something of a legend around here. “Have you seen his Instagram account?” people exclaim, and for good reason. Part photographer, part mountain adventurer, he’s exactly what every transplant to Colorado dreams of becoming: A true backcountry mountain explorer.

I see myself playing and recreating in the Rocky Mountains until I give out or it gets me.

But he wasn’t always like that. After moving to Colorado, Aaron spent the first few years hopping to various ski resorts along the Rocky Mountains, “getting his feet under him,” as he puts it. Then, an old co-worker looking for a backcountry partner brought him into the true Rocky Mountain wilderness, opening up an entirely new world.

Regardless of the season, Aaron ventures out into the mountains pretty much every week. Sure, there have been close calls—like nearly getting lost or just skirting an avalanche (even filming this project, our crew had to bail on an early shoot due to threats of avalanches)—but to him the risk is calculated and the reward is priceless. Put simply, it’s a never-ending adventure.
